from the Washington Post. It's Thursday July 27th. Let's get you caught up with

today's seven stories. Number one, Ukraine launched a new push in its counter-offensive against Russian forces.

Ukraine officials said yesterday that their forces advance in the southeastern Zapparizia region.

Their goal is to reach the Sea of Azov further south.

That would sever Moscow's land bridge to occupied Crimea.

Russia uses this area to move troops, equipment, and supplies into Ukraine.

Progress has been slow since Ukraine began its counter-offensive last month.

A U.S. official said it's not clear if these latest moves mean that the main thrust of the operation

has begun. Number two, a federal judge delayed accepting a guilty plea from Hunter Biden.

A deal was struck last month in which President Biden's son would plead guilty to two tax

charges, but at a hearing yesterday it began to unravel.

The judge said the terms of the deal may not be constitutional.

She asked prosecutors and defense lawyers to work out a fix to address her concerns.

If that doesn't happen, Biden could face a criminal trial.

This was just the latest twist in a high profile legal battle.

It's become a favorite talking point for Republican critics of President Biden

and his family. Number three,
