Hey guys, welcome back to today's episode of Everyday Truth. We've been talking about getting more out of our Bible reading.

And of course, the presupposition is that we're reading our Bible.

And I know I'm speaking to a bunch of people out there that love the Word of God,

that study the Word of God, and want to get more out of the Word of God.

And we've talked about the fact that observation leads to

interpretation, which ought to lead to application. Application ought to be the very natural

outworking of having received information and knowing it and wanting now to apply this to

our lives. And I talked yesterday about

four areas of guardrail, I guess, in the application of scripture to our lives. But today I want

to help by giving you five questions that I think would be great questions to ask yourself, just again,

as guardrails, to make sure that I'm making proper application of the scripture to my personal

life. So here they are, no particular order. First of all, would this application make sense to the original audience if the timeless

principle were explained to them?

Okay, for instance, let's take the story of Ruth in Ruth chapter 2.

So Ruth has made the decision that she's going to come back from Moab.

She's going to adopt Naomi's language, her people, her God. And this is a watershed event in her life.

And chapter two, she goes to work. And it was the prerogative in those days of an immigrant

to work in the field. And so here's Ruth all on her lonesome outworking in the field among all
