Hey, my friends, it is day two on our study of the book of Matthew.

And as you can tell, those of you that are watching on the YouTube version of this episode,

I am in a car. It's not even my car. It's my daughter-in-law's car.

And I have been visiting my family, my parents, down in Sarasota today, but realized I needed to speak to you all and bring a podcast. So I am in the parking lot and we are sharing the word of God. So that's about as fancy as it gets here and everyday truth. But we are in

Matthew 1. And yesterday we learned that the book of Matthew presents Jesus as king. And interestingly,

the book begins with the genealogy of Jesus, all the way back to Abraham, the father of faith,

the father of the Jewish nation, 14 generations later, David, Jesus, the son of David,

the Anointed One, the Christ. And we see that genealogy move all the way forward to Joseph.

Now, I know that Joseph was not the physical father of Jesus,

but tracing the legality of the kingship of Jesus,

we go through that male line of Joseph.

It's very interesting to me how throughout the chapter, it's this one,

beget, this one, beget this one, which refers to a biological begetting. But when you get down

to Joseph, it says the birth of Jesus Christ was unthis wise when as his mother, Mary, was espoused to Joseph

before they came together. So the Bible is very specific that Joseph did not beget Jesus.

There was no physical relationship that Joseph and Mary had together.

And that's important. Why? Because Jesus is all God, no physical father, and all man.

He was born of Mary. Sometimes we call that the hypostatic union.

The fact that Jesus is all God, 100% God, and all man, 100% man. He has a dual nature.
