Now, let's join Kurt for today's episode. Hey there, my friends. Welcome to today's episode of Everyday Truth and the first

episode in 2025. So privileged that you would take some time to join us for our study of the book of

Matthew. And I want to jump right in for

sake of time. Matthew is obviously one of the four Gospels. And when you think about the Gospels,

you're thinking about four different accounts of the life of Jesus Christ. All of them are scripture, and all of them are obviously important,

but each one of them has a different emphasis.

And the book of Matthew, the emphasis is Jesus as king.

That's why throughout the book of Matthew,

you'll read things that deal with kingship or deal with kingdom.

For instance, in chapter 1, we'll learn all about the genealogy of Jesus and why he had the

legal right to be king. In Matthew chapter 2, we'll be introduced to the magi who are looking to

honor the king of the Jews.

We'll learn all about the principles of the kingdom of heaven in Matthew

chapters 5, 6 and 7.

At the end of the book, Matthew chapter 28, we'll learn that Jesus has all power given
