Hey, friends, welcome to today's episode of Everyday Truth. I am actually

standing in the middle of a field because I needed to find a private place to speak to you today.

And I have a couple old pallets that I've set up sideways and I've put my tripod, my small tripod, on top of these

sideways pilots. So if this all comes crashing down in the middle of the podcast today,

you'll know why. I'm not the best builder in the world. But it seems to be quiet out here.

Hopefully we'll have no drive-bys and we'll get our podcast in.

So we're in Matthew chapter two if you have a copy of the Word of God next to you.

And in this series that we're doing in Matthew, we are actually just taking larger chunks

and staying within the framework of individual stories in the book of

Matthew. And so it is today that we're in Matthew chapter number two, and we're talking about

the wise men. And let me just read a couple verses for us just to get us in, and then maybe share a

couple misconceptions that people have about the

wise men and maybe a couple factors that would really help you to understand why this story

was included in Matthew's account of the life of Jesus as we think about Jesus as king.

So Matthew chapter two, verse number one. Now, when Jesus was born in

Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod, the king. So already we see that this is about a king.
