One of my favorite literary quotes is, what a tangled web we weave when at first we practice to deceive. And that is so

true in the story that we're talking about in First Kings chapter one, because we have this adenijah,

a son of David, a full brother of Absalom, who is just being deceptive and declaring himself to be

the king and putting together all the right team. And it just seems like it's the greatest

plan. In fact, he probably thinks that he's gotten away with it because he's having the

feast of the new king and everyone has

voted for him. It just seems as if nothing could go wrong until David hears about it through

Bashiba, through Nathan. David sends Zadok and sends Benaya and Nathan along with Solomon Solomon, are the king's mule down to the very

public place of Gihon, and there Solomon is anointed to be the king. That's the worst possible

news that Adnaijah could get, but Adnaja knows nothing of it. He's busy feasting,

thinking that he's won, and we pick it up in

verse number 35. So Solomon has just been anointed, and I will say this, I have many times been to

Israel, and one of the fun things to do in Israel is to take a tour of the city of

David. So the city of David is the sliver of land between the Kidron Valley and the Teropian Valley.

It's just a small sliver of land where that was the city of Jerusalem during David's Day.
