Hey there from the KUOW Newsroom. This is Seattle now. I'm Paige Browning with today's top

stories. It's Thursday, September 12th. Boeing will know by late

tonight whether its workers will show up to work tomorrow or strike. More than 30,000 unionized

Boeing workers are voting today on whether to accept a new contract with the company. Casey Martin

reports, I'm outside a polling spot in Seattle

South Park neighborhood where a steady stream of Boeing machinists are going in and out to castler votes.

Many showed up on shuttle buses from the factory floor. Employees have two choices today. Whether to

accept a contract, that takes a majority to pass, and if they reject that

contract, whether to go on strike. A strike vote requires a two-thirds majority. Most people I

talked to did not want to share their names out of concern of retribution from Boeing, but nearly

all said they voted against the contract and approved the strike. The pay and benefits being offered are still not good enough, they said.

Voting ends at six.

If a strike is approved, the union says work will stop at Washington plants at midnight.
