Police are still investigating a group attack on a transgender woman in Seattle's University

District last week, but as Amy Radle reports, they've charged one man with a hate crime so far.

Andre Carlo of Seattle is the first person charged in an attack that left a transgender woman with bruises and broken teeth.

Carlo was already awaiting trial for another hate crime charge last fall. The victim in that

attack is a transgender woman named Lexi Young, who works as a fair ambassador for Sound Transit.

When she approached Carlo on the light rail platform, he allegedly called her

slurs and struck her in the face. Young says she's distraught to learn that he and others may now

have hurt someone else more severely. To hear that it happened a second time with somebody else

who I share a community with, that made my heart drop out of my, out of my chest.
