Let's start with Derek Chauvin trial updates.

Yesterday was day 8 and was largely focused on George Floyd's drug use.

The day started with the continued testimony of Sergeant Jody Stiger from the day before,

who said that no force should have been used on Floyd and that Floyd was not a threat

to officers when he was detained.

The first new witness to be called by the prosecution yesterday was senior special agent

James C. Ryerson of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

That was a mouthful.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is responsible for investigating police use

of force.

Ryerson headed the investigation into Floyd's killing and said that his agency prepared

440 reports throughout the investigation.

One thing that was an issue yesterday was why both cars involved in the case, George Floyd's

car and the squad car that the officers were trying to put him into, were both searched

twice and pills with Floyd's DNA on it were only found on the second search, six months

after his death.

Chauvin's lawyer also played body cam audio that was somewhat unclear, but he claimed that

you can hear George Floyd shouting, I ate too many drugs as he was handcuffed on the

ground.

Ryerson instead testified that he thought the Floyd was shouting, I ate do no drugs when
