All goods imported into the U.S. will face a new 10% tariff.

In addition, about 60 countries will face even higher import taxes.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, Trump justified the move in vivid terms.

April 2nd, 2025 will forever be remembered as the day American

industry was reborn, the day America's destiny was reclaimed,

and the day that we began to make America wealthy again.

Gonna make it wealthy, good and wealthy.

For decades, our country has been looted, pillage, raped,

and plundered by nations near and far, both friend and foe alike.

Nations around the world criticized the move. Australia's president, Anthony Albanese, said

the tariffs were not the act of a friend. And some world leaders said they would be fighting back with reciprocal tariffs.
