We're kicking it off today with Thune's next big mistake,

a story by Andrew DeSidario and Laura Weiss.

The GOP reconciliation bill was head for passage before it was derailed last week amid

Republican opposition to the Trump administration's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

Senate Republicans generally agree they need to address the fund, but they aren't

aligned on how far to go. They have to contend with the parliamentarian and the House of Representatives.

Trump, of course, doesn't want the fund to be changed, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune

warns that the White House needs to help resolve this mess. And remember, President Donald Trump

has already gotten GOP incumbent senator Bill Cassidy to lose his primary, and he just endorsed against incumbent

Republican standard John Cornyn. So tensions between Senate Republicans and Trump are at an all-time
