One of the stories in history that I love, it's around baseball, breaking baseball's color barrier.

He faced the jeering crowds of a hostile crowd, Jackie Robinson.

If you've ever heard this story, it's kind of one of those stories that was a game changer

more than just in baseball, but around the country.

After spending a day with the Dodgers, the 1947 sports writer Jimmy Cannon

concluded that Robinson's the loneliest man I've ever seen in sports.

And it was because he was the only black player back in that day in 1947.

But one day in Boston, there was a game going on, and the stands were really hostile,

and it was ugly.

People began to yell and throw things at him, and standing somewhere near second base.

He was just standing there alone, people throwing, yelling, racial slurs and everything.

It was ugly.

And as fans were jeering,

suddenly the shortstop from the south,

10-time All-Star Pee-Wee Reese came to put his arm around him.

Pee-wee Reese was a guy who was a great player at the time. And he just,

he just came and put, put his arm around. Like, the whole stadium was like stunned. Maybe you

saw the movie. If you haven't seen the movie 42, it's worth of you, I think, if I remember,

right. I liked it. I always forget if there's bad stuff in it. I don't know. But this is a shot from that scene. And this is where

Reese just stood there. And the place went silent. And Jackie said later, it seemed like it was

hours. Them just standing there like that for hours. And the crowd died down and suddenly became

quiet. And then eventually it down and suddenly became quiet.
