Summary

As Jesus’ fame begins to spread in Matthew 9:10-38, He finds Himself surrounded by crowds seeking miracles, as well as those who want to criticize, ridicule or question. As we watch how Jesus responds to all these people with both authority and compassion, we learn more about who He is and why He came.

All right, let's get to it. Why don't you turn with me to Matthew, Chapter 9? We've been

mosey and through Matthew. It's been a slow process, but it is the gospel, and it is important

for us to really take in everything Jesus is doing.

And in the last several weeks, we've been looking at Matthew chapter 8 and 9,

which describes 10 miracles in their detail.

And it's really cool to see these.

And Matthew handles things differently than the other gospel writers,

as we've seen a little bit,

even on Sunday, compared some of Matthew and Luke, and then also we've looked at some Mark

the way he kind of tells us different stories, and there's kind of a nuance, but Matthew

tends to clump things together, and so he clumps these ten miracles in chapter 8 and 9. And we've been looking at that.

Miracle number one, just in review, we saw the cleansing of the leper chapter 8 versus 1 through 4.

And, you know, that kind of speaks of the repulsive sinner who nobody wants anything to do with,

the outcast, the outsider. And how the lord cleansed the leper it would

have shocked to the people of that day to make that be one of the early miracles of jesus

um the second one we saw was the healing of centurion's servant who had was sick of the palsy

um and jesus starts ministering to gent. This was a shocker as well.

Why help a Roman centurion?

He's the enemy.

But isn't it interesting that Jesus sets the tone for that as well?

The third miracle was the healing of Peter's mother-in-law there in Copernium.
