Summary

Before we get into the Holy Scriptures, I want to tell you a little tale from Grimm's fairy tales.

And there's a method to my madness.

This Grimm's fairy tale was about this discipline of spinning, which was not what you might think, but it was a term used to spin

on wheels and make yarn out of flax. It was an old school discipline. The story goes, there once was a

girl who was lazy and would not spin. Her mother could not persuade her to do it, no matter how

hard she tried. And finally, the mother had had it, the do it, no matter how hard she tried.

And finally the mother had had it, the bad attitude, the laziness.

And so she took her out behind the woodshed and was going to give her a good spanking,

this young, you know, upper teens girl.

And there she was, giving her a big spanking when the queen of the realm was riding with her entourage by, and she heard the screaming of the young girl.

So the queen said, stop, and she jumped out of her, you know, carriage and jumped in behind

the barn and said, what's going on here?

And the mother was sort of shocked and really ashamed to tell

her how lazy her daughter really was. So instead she said, I'm trying to stop her from spinning.

That's all she wants to do. Day and night, she just spins. I'm a poor woman. I can't supply

enough flax for her to make yarn. Well, the queen answered and said, hey, I like nothing better

than the sound of the spinning wheel. And I always feel happy when I hear it's humming. Let me take

your daughter with me, and she shall spin to her heart's content. The mother was not at all sad,

actually glad to get rid of her daughter.

So she agreed to let the queen take the girl with her.

And when they reached the castle, the queen showed the woman, the young girl,

three rooms full of the nicest flax eyes had ever seen.
