Matthew chapter 15 is where we left off.

We pick it up in verse one.

It says, then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying.

Now before we get into what they said, you got to understand these are the big guns.

These Pharisees and scribes. So far, I think we've only seen the scribes and the Pharisees were from

that area, you know, the Galilee region. But now you've got the big guns from Jerusalem.

If you've got scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem, these are the dudes. And ultimately, these are going to be

the guys instrumental very much in leading to the crucifixion of Jesus. So you kind of have to get

the sense of the gravity of what's happening. And I'm sure the disciples are like, oh, great.

Here comes the Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem. Like the heaviness of the moment, you've got to feel that a little bit.

And you'll get that in this chapter.

You're going to get a sense that the disciples are a little nervous about that.

But we're going to see why they're nervous.

And maybe Jesus gives them good reason to be nervous, except for Jesus totally knows what he's doing.

Sometimes following Jesus gets you into situations that make you a little nervous. That's just kind of the truth

of the matter. And that's true of these disciples here. So let's see what happens. So these Pharisees

and scribes from Jerusalem, they came out saying, verse two, why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders?

For they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Now, in Bible times, the Pharisees, and even to this day, there's Jews that still do this

ceremonial cleansing. And, you know, one thing is, it's kind of

interesting, the laws of the Jews were very practical, and the world only now, you know, in modern
