Mark chapter four, why don't you turn with me? Mark chapter four.

Fast-paced, hard-hitting, the gospel of Mark, man, we're just blazing through the story of the gospel.

That's the thing you get. Because it's such a short book, it's powerful,

packed full of truth. And, you know, we have here the parable now of the sower and of the seed

that we saw also in Matthew's gospel. And so let's dive right into this and see the message that Jesus gave us. It's very similar to the one

in Matthew. Take a look, verse one. It says that he began to teach by the seaside, and there was gathered

unto him a great multitude so that he entered into a ship and sat in the sea, and the whole multitude

was by the sea on the land. Do you ever wonder

if Jesus knew so much that we don't know, like things like the science of why sound bounces

off water so clearly? Have you ever been on a lake and you're out on a boat or something and

you can hear people in the boat like a mile away on the same lake and you're like, it boat or something and you can hear people in the boat like a mile

away on the same lake and you're like it's like they were just a few feet away and you can hear

them talking and it has to do with temperature and what have you the way sound travels and all this

stuff over the water it's kind of a cool science if you look it up there's all kinds of stuff but

you know here's jesus with no sound system the multitudes are pressing in. If he gets two surrounded by people, the first 10 people

would be able to hear him. But after that, you'd lose them. But Jesus gets into a boat and pushes

off into the sea. Now, by the way, the sea of Galilee, for us Oregonians, why I might say the big lake of

Galilee. It's not even really that big of a lake. If you're from Montana, it's a mud puddle.

The Sea of Galilee is tiny. And it's, so, you know, don't picture this huge, you know,

oceanic type of sea or whatever. And the vessel was probably a small boat and he pushes out and you can

kind of picture how this works. The sound of his voice reflecting off the shore there onto the

people that were on the beach. What a cool setting for this message. And it's one that he wants
