We got to verse 34 last week, so we're going to pick it up there.

Gospel of Mark, we mentioned last week as we kind of did an introduction that the gospel

of Mark is fast-paced, hard-hitting, small but mighty.

And we've already seen, if you were with us last week, how just the first half of this chapter

one covers many chapters in the gospel of Matthew.

So if you want the real fast version of the gospel, Mark's the one.

But what's amazing to be, and you might notice this, we saw this last week, we'll probably

see it in the next few weeks especially.

But even though Mark's shorter than Matthew by far, Luke or John, this we saw this last week we'll probably see it you know in the next few weeks especially but um

even though mark shorter than matthew by far or luke or john um there's so much we learn from

mark that's not in the other gospels like those little tidbits that you'd miss out on had we not

had the gospel of mark so i'm thankful for that um and again uh it's john Mark of the story in the book of Acts that is the one

who penned this. There's debate, whether it was Peter who was there reciting to John Mark as an

eyewitness to what was happening. But most people, scholars, I should say, see the influence,

at least of Peter. Remember, Peter called

John Mark his son in the faith, kind of like Timothy was to Paul, so was John Mark to Peter. And

also Peter, or pardon me, Barnabas was the one who nursed John Mark back into good standing

with Paul. So it's a great story. I love that this gospel comes from John Mark just because of

the story that we went over last week. But as we pick it up where we left off there, let's pick it up

here in verse 35. It says in verse 35, and in the morning, rising up a great while before the

day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. I love this little, you know,
