Last week we ended with a little bit of a tricky passage that I wanted to kind of pick up where we left off there in John chapter 2.

As it turns out, we were kind of talking about those who believed.

And you might think, well, good for them, but in this case, not so much. We saw there at the end of John chapter 2, it says there that

many of those people believe, verse 23 of chapter 2 in his name when they saw the miracles which he did. And as we kind of

mentioned last week, I always say miracles never really produced real faith. And one might argue

well, Brett, here these people believe because of miracles. But that's where the rest of this kind of

comes into play, where Jesus, verse 23, they saw the miracles, verse 24,

but Jesus did not commit himself to them because he knew all men.

And do you remember that word for Jesus believing or committing is the same as the people

believing?

The same Greek word is that Greek word Pistu, that we looked at last week. And we'll

look at it again, because it's going to come into play this evening as well, to think to be true,

to be persuaded of, to credit, to place confidence in. Why would Jesus not Pistuio them, but they

Pistuoed him? The answer answer is because it wasn't a real true faith that was

leaning completely on Christ and all of his claims. They just believed some of the stuff because

the miracles which he did, so he did not commit himself or postuo to think to be true their

faith because he knew all men.

So that's kind of where we landed. But Jesus is going to jump on that idea of this

Pistuio. We'll see that in chapter three. And chapter three is very fundamental in Christianity.

Probably the most famous verse in all the Bible is right here before us tonight. And you kind of

start to see the gravity of the moment and what's going on here. So, you know, some of you might think,

well, if Jesus did a great miracle, I would believe in my life, I would believe, don't be so quick
