Evangelist Robert L. Sumner told the story of a man from Kansas, Kansas City actually,

was severely injured in an explosion on the job. And it severely injured him so much that his face was

badly burned and his hands were burned so badly. Like he lost his both hands and his eyesight.

It was really quite tragic.

But of all the things that the man suffered, he seemed to be saddest because he no longer could read the scriptures.

And this is back when he, you know, in a day where he kind of heard that there was a

thing called Braille, where, you know, you could read as long as you could touch the pages,

but he had no hands. So he heard of this woman in London who actually learned how to read

Braille with her lips. And so he was excited. He thought, maybe I can do that.

And he got a Braille Bible, which I don't know if you ever seen a Braille Bible, but it's volumes

because the pages are quite thick. And so he got that. And to his sadness, he put his lips

on the pages of the Holy Bible. And his lips, because they were so badly burned, he had no sensitivity. He couldn't feel anything. But as he was trying to do that, something kind of shocked him. He could feel with his tip of his tongue, the Braille dots on the pages. And he learned to read Braille with the tip of his tongue. And it said that he read

through the Bible several times with Braille, just with the tip of his tongue. And sometimes I

read a story like that and I think, oh my, and I've got Bibles on my shelf and I can read with

perfectly good eyes. And do I have a love for the word that much? I mean, it's funny how when

you don't have something, you kind of miss it. This guy learned that how important it was to be

a reader of the scripture and he did whatever he could to read the Bible. So I commend you for

being here on a Wednesday night going through the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter.

And I think as you go through the Bible, have you noticed how much you begin to love the Bible

more and more? It's like the more you're familiar with it, the more powerful it really is.

And you just have to say, thank you, Lord, for such a wonderful work that he's given us in the
