Summary

Paul’s courtroom saga continues in Acts 24-25 as his accusers present their case before Felix, using misinformation and flowery flattery in an attempt to defeat Paul once and for all. After Felix wavers, Paul is sent to Festus, who equally doesn’t know how to handle the situation, and the ongoing indecision sets Paul on a course to Rome, where he will stand before Caesar.

Acts chapter 24. One of the things the book of Acts does, you know, at times there's some,

0:10.2

you know, deep theology and stopping and slowing down for some of the heavier topics and what

0:15.3

have you, but there's also a big picture being painted. And tonight we really follow the narrative

0:20.7

of Paul's story. And part of that,

0:23.1

I think it's helpful if we can see the context of that story and not just, you know, go slowly

0:29.2

through that. There are times in the Bible where I think it is better to kind of read through

0:33.8

some scripture and gain some ground on a Wednesday night. If you were with us in

0:38.9

the Old Testament study, sometimes we'd go through five chapters on a Wednesday night, and we'd

0:43.5

read them all. Because there's quite a narrative. Sometimes you want to really follow that narrative.

0:48.9

But, you know, when we get to the book of Romans, for example, I've seen pastors take five years, six years to go through

0:55.9

the book of Romans, you know, because it's so hard with just so many heavy theological topics,

1:02.0

you could just really camp out in Romans, which I love that too. But tonight I want to try to pick up

1:08.4

the pace a little bit just because the narrative is so interesting of what's happening here to Paul.

1:13.8

The context, if you remember, Paul stirred some things up.

1:16.8

Well, it really wasn't his fault.

1:18.2

He really didn't do anything.

1:20.6

You might say a little bit when he said, I believe in the resurrection.

1:23.4

Remember that?

1:24.2

And everybody flipped out.

1:25.4

Because remember the Sadduceeses they don't believe in the

1:27.8

resurrection and the Pharisees who do believe in the resurrection they're all like oh yeah we like

1:32.0

paul he's cool once he said i believe in the resurrection but the sadducees and some of the other jews
