Let's pick up where we left off.

First Corinthians, chapter seven.

We began chapter seven last Wednesday and only got really to verse nine.

And we talked about, you know, what fornication is, and to avoid fornication, get married.

It's very basic stuff.

Now, you've got to remember the context of this chapter is what the Corinthian Church wrote to Paul.

And in verse one, it says, now concerning the things wherever you wrote to me, like, that's the whole context of this chapter.

Well, what did the Corinthian Church write to Paul about? That all kinds of

nuisancey questions about sexuality, about marriage, about singleness, about what if this

happens or what if that happens? And boy, it's interesting, I can sort of sense Paul's

frustration because as a pastor, I get that a lot too. Well, Pastor Brett, what if I've been married

once before, then got divorced and then got remarried, uh, and then kind of realized I was wrong in

my first marriage. Should I leave my second wife and go back to my first wife and get remarried to her?

It's like, wow, can you just give me an Advil, please? Starting to get kind of brutal.

Paul's going to get down to the nitty-gritty on stupid questions. Just questions that it's all really

because of man's hard-heartedness and sinfulness. Paul even asked to write this chapter.

And we really begin verse 10. It says, and unto the married, right there. That's our first few

words we need to focus on. Now, I'd like to do something a little different. Now, normally I'd go

right on through verse by verse, chapter by chapter, but there's some things that we need to know.

There's some general assumptions we need to have about marriage that I think are really important, because Paul is almost taking this.

If he's already done marriage 101 and 102, this is almost like Marriage 103 with the Corinthian Church.

It's like the third class, and he's getting into some of the nuances.
