As Israel's most important ally, the US is already a major player in the current conflict in the

Middle East sending ships to the region and carrying out strikes on targets in

Yemen, Iraq and Syria but now the American military has suffered its first deaths from enemy fire since the Gaza War began.

In a written statement, the US President Joe Biden said three service personnel had been killed in an overnight drone attack on a small US

outpost in the Jordanian Syrian border and he blamed Iranian-backed militants.
