Summary

Rob is joined by Cameron Kunzelman and Ethan Gach to return to the world of Frostpunk before the frost as the panel considers the game's latest DLC, The Last Autumn. In some ways it's an expansion the reveals some of the worst traits of Frostpunk, but in some other ways it reinvents and reimagines the game as a trickier and more credible management game.

Hello, thank you so much for having me on.

0:17.1

Today we're returning to the world of Frostpunk, uh, a name whose ridiculousness

0:22.7

really didn't dawn on me, dawn on me until this exact moment. The day, the game is called

0:28.1

Frost Punk. What a wild thing. Uh, and specifically, we are returning, we are returning to it

0:33.5

via the prequel DLC that came out this past winter, the last autumn. It's a D.L.C.

expansion that kind of reimagines what Frostpunk even is as it tells the story of how those

0:46.3

generators and those sort of salvation cities were created that we sort of governed and mismanaged and turned towards fascism in the

0:57.4

core game so even can you tell us a little bit about what the last autumn is this is this going

1:05.4

to be very familiar to people who played frostpunk yeah so it's interesting it. It takes the basic building blocks and sort of decision-making processes of the original game,

1:17.6

but it gives you not just like a new location that's more temperate and forgiving than the Arctic deep freeze of the base game.

1:27.6

But it gives you a new sort of rock and a hard place

1:32.5

that you're trying to navigate.

1:33.5

So instead of trying to keep this generator cooking

1:37.6

so that nobody freezes to death,

1:39.3

you're actually trying to build it.

1:40.9

And what that ends up, and because you're building it on this island you don't have

1:45.8

access to the same sorts of resources so you're reliant on a port from the mainland empire to deliver

1:52.4

a lot of the stuff you need to do it so you're you're kind of more managing timetables and

2:00.2

productive capacity than doing blanket survival.
