Summary

If the notion of the modern RTS makes you break into a cold sweat as you think about APM and wrist pain, we have good news for you: Veitikka Studios has created a more elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Armored Brigade puts you in command of cold war-era equipment in an impressively generated battlefield. The excellent scenario generator and impressive AI turn this game into something special, much to the delight of our panel. Rob, Ian Boudreau, game designer Rod Humble, and Troy "You've given me a heart and a brain" Goodfellow explain why Armored Brigade turned out to be an excellent game to round out 2018.

Hey, everybody.

is so different from what I typically associate with a major war

0:57.1

game. Troy, why don't you tell us a little bit about what this game is and how it works.

1:03.9

What do you find when you open the box, as it were? I mean, look at this game as kind of on a

1:09.3

triangle. In one angle you have close, one of the angles you have close combat, one of the angles you have war game, and one of the angles you have flashpoint campaigns.

1:19.6

And at different parts of the game, you'll find yourself on the line between one or two of those angles.

1:26.3

And this game is reminiscent of so many other small-scale tactical war games

1:31.3

so that we've seen, a real-time tactical war game that we've seen in the last decade or so.

1:38.3

The...

1:39.3

The battles are generally quite small.

1:43.3

I love how you could... it comes with about a dozen different

1:47.3

scenarios. You know, in the Folda Gap region, you can play as the Germans or the Poles. You know,

1:54.0

as the Finns who aren't Fold the Gap really, but everyone likes the Finns because they're fun.
