Summary

Troy returns from vacation just as Fraser prepares to sail the wine-dark Aegean. But they pause long enough to talk about Kingdoms and Castles with Rob, a fun little medieval tower-defnse-city-builder that everyone wishes were just a little bit... deeper. But can Kingdoms and Castles' appeal be separated from its simplicity and shallowness?

Join me today, we have 3MA founder, Troy Goodfellow. It has been a very long time since I've been on the show, so I'm much sure if you guys hate me or not, but I'm happy to be back. You've been on vacation, Troy. You don't get to pull that card. There was a month before that that I posted on the show. You guys are just leaving me aside. No, it's been a brother of really, really good shows. So you don't need me at all. But I'm really glad to be here. I'm really glad to be able to talk about a very light and odd game. your city will be under attack from Vikings or from

1:28.7

ogres or from dragons or whatever. So your city must always have, you know, defense going.

1:34.0

This isn't a game that at its best, I mean, you can play just sandbox with nobody attacking,

1:39.3

but at best, this is a game that is about building a city and defending it. It's a city builder

1:44.0

that uses zones of control.

1:45.4

It doesn't have walkers, really.

1:46.9

It does walkers to an extent.

1:48.6

People have to pick up supplies and drop them in places and locations.

1:51.9

But for the most part, it's a zone of control, especially for the happiness buildings.

1:56.7

They have areas of effect.

1:59.7

There are a few major resources.

2:01.9

There is wood and there's stone and there's iron.
