live from the residence of Dr. Bruce Garrick for a change, where we're going to be talking about

our weekend of wargaming. Hello, I'm Bruce Garrick, and I have Monk the Cat, who would

like to join us here. Yeah, apologies in advance.

If you hear little cat noises, if you hear a glass of nice scotch suddenly falling to the ground and the shattering of glass and ice cubes,

that might be due to Monk the cat, who among his other hobbies, is also laying waste to board games that are painstakingly set up.

So that has been one little challenge to our weekend of wargaming.

But overall, I would have to say it's been a wildly successful weekend of wargaming.

And I think a big part of that goes, is down to a particular game that we played this afternoon, Bruce.

So, Rob, you told me that you were coming to. is down to a particular game that we play this afternoon, Bruce. Yeah.

So, Rob, you told me that you were coming to North Carolina and that you had an assignment and you wanted to spend some time on the weekend before your assignment playing some

meaty war games.

And when I asked you what you wanted to play, you did mention that you wanted to play a coin game.

So we did put one of those on the list, and we'll talk about that.

But there was another game that I wanted to play, which was Empire of the Sun, which is Mark Herman's board game about the Pacific War.

But at the last second, we actually got a friend of mine, Don, from Chapel Hill. He came to

join us. It was great. We played both days with Don. And the second day, I thought, well,

I've got a three-player board game. We've already played Churchill, or at least Don and I have

played Churchill. But there's this game that neither of us has played called Triumph and Tragedy. Rob, have you ever heard of this game? Is this something that you knew about or the first time you heard about it from me? No, I mean, I had absolutely never heard of it. And I mean, that's not unusual for me with board war games. It's not a space I follow

particularly closely. But, you know, I do hear about like when there's a new coin game,

I'm certainly aware of it. There's a lot of, like, when GMT has a popular new release,
