Twitter threatened to sue Meta over the Threads app.

Okay, here's the show.

Meta's new app, Threads, wasn't supposed to launch this week.

The company had been working on the Twitter competitor for about six months,

but still wasn't ready to unveil it.

We're actually supposed to launch it at the end of the month.

Then Elon decided to go crazy mode and rate limit people's posts on Twitter

and everyone got very upset, so they moved up the launch a few weeks.

That's Mike Isaac who covers tech for The New York Times.

He says the launch was a little messy, especially getting it onto the app store.

But on Wednesday night, when the app went public,

all anyone with an Instagram account had to do was add Threads.

And boom, they were on.

Sharing little text-based updates on an interface that looks and feels a lot like Twitter.

People joined it much faster than I suspected,

and my guess is because of that close connection to Instagram,

particularly, and how you can immediately follow basically everyone on there right off the bat.

On TikTok, people seemed into it.
