I've used this podcast as a platform to talk about a variety of things, the normal podcast

stuff, but also events in my life that are maybe easier to talk about out loud than right

about because writing's very difficult for me.

And I know we're not scheduled to have a podcast today, but I wanted to address something

that's been in the news the past few days on Twitter because it pertains specifically

to Lucky Peach, the magazine that I co-founded with Peter Nehan and Christian back in 2011.

Peter and I first started working together in 2007 on the Momofuku cookbook.

We started Lucky Peach and also produced the first season of Ugly Delicious Together.

Starting Monday, a number of stories came to light about the working environment at both

the Lucky Peach New York offices and the LA Times Food Section, which Peter ran until

a couple days ago.

Obviously, people are wondering about what I knew and saw as Peter's former business

partner.

And I mean, we've been together a lot.

I think people assume that we're sort of tied at the hip, at least on the public understanding

of it all, which isn't the case.

But the fact is, I signed a non-despairagement agreement that prevents me from saying anything

negative about Peter or his management of Lucky Peach.

But that doesn't mean I can't talk about myself and how I fell short in all of this.

My personal relationship with Peter began to deteriorate pretty much early on in the Lucky
