Okay, so we continue our examination of St. Thomas Aquinas,

and again, I'm operating off of a strict adherence

to the formality that Aquinas follows in the suma negatively stated the summa is not a

piecemeal document it's not meant to be an encyclopedia but as he says in the general prologue which

you can find in most editions of the suma sadly not all everything in the suma the order is just as

important as what he says.

So that's why, as you recall, yesterday we're getting to war over here, and yet war takes place within the section on charity, and it's mainly war is identified as the opposite of peace. Okay?

So notice, very interesting, this is not, he does not place his examination of war within the Triuson justice.

Very interesting.

Of course, in the question on war, he does talk about just war explicitly, but we're not

following the piecemeal approach to the suma, because in order to understand the point

of sense, war falls under his examination of charity, peace is an effect of charity, war is

against both peace and charity, and so this is where we're going but that's the progression

that's the logic okay and so in order to emphasize that this is your handout is from question

29 which you have read rather than read things and have you flip through PDFs or printouts

or regret that you didn't bring a printout or have deleted the PDF,

and then you're on Facebook and Instagram, and then we're all lost.
