This was the first week of public impeachment hearings.

We got a chance to hear from three long-time civil

servants, George Kent, Bill Taylor, who is currently the Chargei running the Ukrainian embassy,

and Marie Yovanovitch, who was serving as ambassador to Ukraine until Taylor took over for her.

Each of these diplomats holds one little piece of the story of what

was going on between President Trump and the President of Ukraine. Our own Jim Newell, he was in the

room as this testimony went down, and that's why we let Dahlia Lithwick have the week off.

I should say, we've recorded this conversation just before Marie Yovanovitch sat down for questioning.
