I just took a look at today's feed on next door, the neighborhood's social media site.

Six out of the top ten posts were about missing dogs or cats.

It's like this every day, which made me wonder what's going on with all the lost pets?

Turns out that 10 million pets get lost in the U.S. every year,

according to the Humane Society. One in three pets will get lost or stolen sometime in its lifetime.

While most dogs are recovered, fewer cats come home, but the statistics for animals that wind up in
