Despite the prevalence of gun violence, Americans still really can't agree on a legislative path forward.

Despite 63% of Americans expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation's gun laws

and how pulling this year 54% of Republicans in that same post said they were satisfied with US gun laws.

So there's a there's a true political divide here that puts us sort of at what I call legislative paralysis.

Last week Republican presidential hopefuls tended the NRA's annual meeting held on the heels of a mass shooting at a bank of local Kentucky.

Another shooting a Nashville week before that and all the speakers challenged the idea that the country has a quote gun problem.

And called for fewer not more restrictions on gun ownership.

And then we've had this really uncomfortable phenomenon this week where it feels as if doing everyday things.

Going to a grocery store pulling into a driveway trying to visit somebody and getting to the wrong house or knocking on the wrong door can get you shot.
