If the Merrick Garland standard for the voluntary return of classified documents is to be applied

evenly, then by this time tomorrow, maybe even sooner, there will likely be a special

counsel appointed to investigate classified documents that were discovered at former

Vice President and likely presidential candidate Mike Pence's house, right?

This document is returned according to an advisor for the former Vice President Mike Pence.

Aides to former Vice President Mike Pence found what they call a quote, small number of documents

bearing classified markings during a search of Pence's Indian home, according to letters

to the National Archives, and that the FBI collected the classified documents from the

Pence home on January 19th. Discovery comes as a shock, sort of, given that Pence has

stayed it over and over again. Since his former boss's home was searched by federal officials,

after he failed to turn over classified documents to the National Archives, that he, Mike Pence,

did not take any classified documents with him. This is what Mike Pence said when asked

about it to CBS's Robert Costa just over 10 days ago. He was asked this specific question,

did you take any classified materials with you watch?

Our staff reviewed all of the materials in our office and in our residence to ensure

that there were no classified materials that left the White House or remained in our

possession. And I, I, I remain confident that that was done in a thorough and careful way.

Clearly in the waning days of the Trump Pence administration, that process was not properly

executed by staff around the President of the United States.

So the American Garland standard that led to the appointment of a special counsel to investigate

the Biden's similar situation, the voluntary return of classified documents, is going
