Summary

Alright. Let me be clear: I am not making a case for or against him. This is me trying to find deeper answers to why Peterson is such a divisive figure, as well as observing the (frankly) dire situation masculine culture is in. When I see people either hyper-pedestal someone or viciously denigrate them, that’s a solid cue to look at both the person and what they might symbolize in the psyche of their fans (and enemies).  Did you enjoy the podcast? All right. So this should be an interesting one. I've been getting a lot of questions over the past

0:06.3

couple of years and I haven't addressed this topic yet. But I've had a lot of questions about my

0:10.6

opinion, my perspective on Jordan Peterson, why he's so popular, why people love him, why people

0:16.3

hate him, you know, why people can't stand him. And interestingly enough, I believe that the reason

0:23.2

for it is the same. And I think that it's very indicative of something that's happening within our

0:30.1

culture, within our societies at a much larger level. So I wanted to talk about this because it

0:35.1

ties into fatherhood. It ties into patriarchy. And I hesitate to talk

0:39.8

about and even use the P word because, I mean, I'm just tired of hearing it. Every single time I hear

0:46.6

on a podcast or on a show, someone even dropped that word. I'm like, oh, like my body just cringes.

0:53.2

And so I hesitated to talk about this.

0:55.1

But I think it's actually an important topic. And I recently heard a very interesting conversation by a man

1:02.9

named Stephen Jenkinson, who's going to be joining me on the podcast here in the next couple weeks

1:06.6

to talk about this and other things. But I wanted to talk about Jordan Peterson because he's a bit of a phenomenon in some ways.

1:15.1

You know, here's this Canadian who actually grew up not too far from where I grew up in

1:20.8

Northern Alberta.

1:22.1

And he's, you know, a professor and he's outspoken about, you know, certain topics and whatnot.

1:28.3

But he seems to attract a very specific type of opinion about who he is. People really are

1:38.8

sequestered and divided into, you know, love him, love his work, love his, love his ideas, love what he stands for,

1:48.2

or I can't stand him. And I, you know, I vehemently disagree with him in his perspective.

1:53.7

And so I wanted to dig into this because, again, I think that he represents and embodies something

1:59.1

that has been really lacking within our society.

2:04.0

And so just for a moment, I would invite you to put aside your perspective of Jordan Peterson's
