I think it's safe to say that at this point, the experience of sitting down on your phone,

0:05.4

scrolling on social media for hours to the point of feeling depressed and anxious and insecure

0:10.5

is a universal experience. We've all experienced it. Like, my grandma has experienced it. And I don't

0:17.9

even know if she knows how to send an email, but somehow she knows how to

0:20.8

doom scroll. It's kind of a miracle, honestly, that she figured that out. Like, that feels advanced.

0:26.4

But unfortunately, she figured out something that I wish she didn't figure out, because doom scrolling

0:30.8

is one of the most miserable experiences of life today. I mean, there are more miserable

0:36.3

0:45.6

1:08.0

because doom scrolling sucks and makes us all feel like shit.

1:12.2

And it really made me feel like shit a few years ago to the point where I took extreme measures.

1:17.9

I bought a second phone. I downloaded all of the addictive social media apps onto that phone

1:23.2

and then decided to keep that phone in a drawer unless I really needed it to maybe post something

1:29.0

on social media or every once in a while to check in on my loved ones and in you know but other than

1:35.4

that the phone's in the drawer and I will say it really helped me like I can confidently say that

1:42.4

I've kicked the doom scrolling habit for the most part.

1:46.2

Am I perfect at it?

1:48.4

No.
