This is our first big action sequence. So this guy attacks her. You know, we're shattering the mirror.

0:37.2

We're kicking this guy.

0:38.4

He, I 100% was like, oh, she killed him because his neck hit this table. But then we get two

0:44.9

more cult members coming through and saying, oh, he's out. And I just said, oh, okay, that seemed like

0:49.5

a weird read. And then, of course, after all this big battle, which will unpack a bit more in a moment, it's easy to come to the realization. He's out. Could mean that he's actually dead because all of these people just reanimate. Exactly. And so I had no idea about this plot point walking into this movie. And I'm really glad that I didn't. But again, I'm going back to the whole, well, I wonder if they put it in the marketing if it would have done better. But who knows? Maybe. It's so early in the film, I almost wonder, but I do think that people would complain about the trailers being way too spoilery as a result. Well, but that is the constant marketing conundrum, right? It is. I do feel like the more you give away

1:28.6

1:34.0

backlash to, oh, like, everything was spoiled in the trailer is going to be so much bigger in those

1:38.8

types of instances. So it's like, what do you risk? You know, do you risk withholding things and

1:42.6

risk having a lower turnout?

1:49.2

Yeah. It's not always the case, right? There are exceptions to the rule, if this is even a rule that we can say exist. But yeah, I don't know. It's something that we clock pretty regularly. And like,

1:55.0

I read a deadline piece because over the weekend, they do updates about how the movies are

1:59.5

performing, which areas they do better in how the movies are performing, which areas

2:00.9

they do better in and what the audience demographics are and so on.

2:04.5

One of the things that they said when it became evident that the film was underperforming,

2:08.8

because this movie was expected to debut with nearly 20 million, and then they adjusted down,

2:13.9

adjusted down, adjusted down to then $5 million is what we've got on the Monday.

2:18.6

So, like, they really overestimated this.

2:21.5

And one of the reasons that they were tracking the downward trajectory was because there was

2:26.8

chatter online about people feeling like the trailer was too spoilery and people felt like the

2:31.6

movie had been fully given away.
