Hello and welcome to the sleep story from Abide.

I'm Melissa, and I'm so glad you're joining me tonight for our story titled, They Will Be Shown Mercy.

It's not always easy to offer mercy, especially when we feel like we have the right to withhold

it.

Does that resonate with you?

Whether it's a loved one who angers us or a stranger who irritates us, it can be difficult to show mercy all the time.

When Jesus shared the beatitudes, which were a prelude to his sermon on the Mount,

one of the things he said was, blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

As I picture Jesus saying these words, I imagined some of his disciples feeling a bit

regretful that they hadn't always been merciful.

Matthew chapter 19, verse 13 says, then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them.

But the disciples rebuked them.

You see, they didn't have the time or patience for children that day,

and they weren't being kind or merciful to the parents who brought them. However, Jesus

welcomed those precious little ones with open arms. Tonight, I encourage you to let that imagery bring you great comfort and joy.
