Summary

We often hear stories of the Old Testament heroes of the faith; yet fail to relate the lessons they learned to our own lives. Abel, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Noah and others all seem spiritually out of reach, but "They Were Just Like Us." In this eleven-part series, Michael Youssef examines the trials and turmoil, failures and faults, of each of these men and women to reveal the realities of faith. Allow God to conform you to His likeness, and your faith will reach new heights.

we can testify to the fact that there are a whole lot of choices in the West that you would not get in probably 90% of the world. I mean, choices about everything.

And often, when we have so many choices, it can be confusing. There is an old story that I read

this week, in fact, about how not only confusing but sometimes

He said, China, India, or Ceylon, sir?

He said, China.

He said, milk, please. He said, Jersey, Hartford, or Sherathon, sir. He said, just a milk that comes out of the cow. The reason some young people get into trouble is because they have never been trained to choose well. When I was growing up

1:49.5

and my parents, I think, overdid it, went to the other extreme that you find in our culture today

1:56.6

in trying to get me to choose well and choose wisely and felt kind of oppressed like a lot of young

teenagers feel. And I said, I could not wait to just leave home and be free as a bird. And I do what

2:12.0

I want to do instead of constantly have my parents teaching me how to choose wisely. And at the age of 19 and 20, I was totally

2:22.4

alone in strange countries. Nobody even knew that I existed and I could have gone either way and I could

have made horrible choices. But that godly upbringing, together with the hand of God,

help me to make wise choices.
