This is important to understand that when I talk about life advice, I certainly don't

think I'm perfect or I've figured it all out. Parenting advice, marriage advice, friendship advice,

personal life choice, advice, your career, time management. But I do spend a lot of time

thinking about it. And I ask smart people and I read things in my process. And I evolve in my thoughts

based on the empirical evidence of my own experience and I try to get better from that.

I think that we have to focus a lot more of our attention on young people, particularly as parents.

I find that it's a lot easier to disengage from my teenage boys and do my thing,

but that it is far more important that I do engage, even if at that moment they're tired from

studying or would rather not have a lecture on this or that. Still has to be done in its own way.

You have to engage them. You can't just be their career service or taxi, their bank,

the person who signs things that they're not old enough to sign for yet. You have to be so much

more. You have to be in their face. You have to know where their head is. You have to cut them off

at the past when they're making bad decisions. It's not easy. But the importance of that,

Sandy Peterson, our research director sent me a report that they'd done that conducted it.

It's 18 to 29-year-olds. Harvard Kennedy School of Government did it. They broke the students out

by Republican and Democrat and a number of male and female. The study on young Democrats was

staggering. Just listen to this. By the way, the number of Democrats versus Republicans was only

a tick higher for Democrats than Republicans. The reason for that is simple.

The Democrats have become the establishment. Being anti-democrat is anti-establishment

and young people always want that. I see more and more young people who decry the actions of our

government in an independent, minded way. I hear from them. I witness it. And it's surprising

and it's wonderful. It's the flip of the Woodstock generation. Young Democrats reported feeling
