Last night started off pretty normal.

Most of the downstairs lights were off when I got home,

but that was to be expected.

Mary doesn't mean to do it, but she...

She always seems to forget that her husband works the graveyard shift.

Meaning, he'll be coming home most nights when both she and the son are fast asleep.

There's nothing to be angry about, though.

I simply planned a buster for her, consistent forgetfulness the next morning and nothing more.

Anyway, I hadn't eaten anything in the past few hours.

So rather than going straight up to bed, like I always do,

I decided to pop a frozen pizza in the microwave,

just to silence my growling stomach.

The break of routine, as meaningless as it seemed at the time,

is probably the only reason I'm writing this post.
