They help us to realize that every good thing begins with God.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if life was always peaceable?

You know in our world today, there's such a cry for peace, and yet we live in a midst of a world filled with wars,

wars and rumors of wars. And of course we know prophetically that real peace is not going to come to our world until the prince of peace.

The Lord Jesus rules and reigns here. But in the midst of war, in the midst of strife and

contention and conflict and battle, did you know you can have victory? Did you know you can have

peace not after the battle, but in the midst of the battle? We've come in our study of the Psalms to Psalm 20 and Psalm 21.

These two Psalms are very unique because they are, if I might say it this way, war Psalms.

They are Psalms that were written in the midst of the battle.

Psalms that are in some way connected to the conflict that David

himself was experiencing with the nation of Israel. We don't know exactly who they were fighting against,

was it the Philistines, the Ammonites, the Syrians, take your pick. They had plenty of enemies.

And I want you to know, if you're a follower of Jesus Christ, you're going to have plenty of enemies as well.

You know, the truth is, if you go along with the devil, he won't give you a fit at all.

But if you try to follow Christ and do the right thing, be very sure that the world, the flesh, and the devil are all going to rear their ugly head against you.

And so with that in mind, a Psalm like Psalm 20 becomes a very special

encouragement. Listen to the words nine verses long. David writes,

The Lord, hear thee in the day of trouble. The name of the God of Jacob, defend thee.
