I think folks are going to be surprised maybe to hear that you don't have to use the word feedback to give feedback

Right. Now the issue with that of course is that most managers have never given feedback

and so anything could very well be met with

derision. But the fact is these fears that managers have are rarely if ever borne out once the manager tries delivering feedback

using the word or not and at the same time we understand that a lot of managers, even though they in theory get the idea behind the model, don't use the model because of fears like that.

And so this guidance is designed to help the manager who

but perhaps wants to be a little bit more natural

in his or her delivery. We still recommend asking first, but folks, you don't have to say
