I am convinced that we are suffering from a lack of theology in the church and even us

individually we often suffer from a lack of theology and what what I mean is this, is that theology is like the snow bank from which the river of application flows.

And we all like the river and we like the fresh cool water that comes in the river,

but we forget that that comes from that

snow bank, that big giant deposit of healthy life-giving snow that sits and slowly melts its way down the mountain.

And theology can be like this.

It's like we're storing up teachings about Christ and teachings about God.

And then in our lives later when things get hot,

those teaching sort of melt down and change the way we view our lives

and we view the things around us.

And it really has a massive impact.

I can tell you as a pastor who has a lot of opportunities to do private counseling with people

so often I'm in counseling with someone and I'm hearing them and what I hear is someone who

doesn't have a biblical mindset in their life.

They don't have a theological, biblical worldview

for their marriage or their family or their kids

or the suffering they're going through.

And they go through unnecessary pain, insecurity in their faith,

in their walk with Christ, and perhaps sometimes

very odd behavior.

Like they just act weird because the theology is not there to sort of ground them.

And so I think tonight we're going to talk about letting theology change you.
