Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Ivan Satyavrata.

After transitioning out of academia of 21 years of theological education, now for 13 years,

Ivan serves as the senior pastor of one of the largest churches in North India, a multilingual congregation of eight languages and about 5,000 people in Kolkata, India. He's also the executive

director of multiple social justice and outreach

ministries operating under the church's auspices. He's also been a visiting professor at various

institutions, including Regent College in Vancouver. I have the pleasure of speaking with Ivan

today in person because he and his wife Sheila are here at Gordon College. He is a visiting

scholar for Gordon's Center for Faith and Inquiry. It has been a delight having him on campus,

speaking in chapels, giving lectures, and spending time with our students. When I heard he was coming

to campus, I recognized his name from an essay he wrote in The Spirit Over the Earth,

Pneumatology in the majority world, published by Erdman's in 2016, and edited by two colleagues

that I knew at Wheaton, Gene Green, and Steve Pardue. Today, Friends, is going to be a treat

because I get to talk to a fellow Pentecostal about the Holy Spirit and the intersection of theology
