What do you think about the Laker team now?

0:03.4

You follow the box scores of the games every day?

0:06.0

Just the Lakers.

0:07.3

You're kidding.

0:08.6

That is really a compliment.

0:12.8

I was pleased to see you smile at the top bar show because once the game starts, you have a game face.

0:17.8

You don't smile much out there.

0:20.4

I don't think you have to do things for money anymore. Correct. What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Filmroom podcast, brought you by the Blue Wire Podcast Network. I'm Pete, joined by Darius and Mike. And today we're going to talk about the young guys on this year's Lakers team. Now, our quote-unquote, young core, I wouldn't even use that term to describe this group

0:38.5

because they are not core. They are not the 19 and 20 year olds who someday will be the first or

0:44.6

second options on their teams, the way we saw with DeAngelo Russell and Brandon Ingram and

0:49.6

now Kyle Kuzma, right? When I talk about the young guys on this team, I talk about the guys

0:54.1

But next year, maybe a guy like Stanley Johnson, for example, I don't think has this type of role on a good team. But I could see him as a good 10th man, a good 11th man. So that's kind of the framing in which I talk about those guys. And for me, the guys that fit that description are Stanley, T.H.T. Austin Reeves and Malik Monk that are young, that I can see that have a potential place on next year's team.

1:28.7

And so in this pod, we're going to talk about that and the development of that.

1:32.8

But I think before then, I think it's informative to kind of revisit what developing on the

1:38.0

Lakers is like.

1:39.6

And, Dee, right before we started recording, you were like, hey, did you see this that Kyle Kuzma said

1:44.8

about what it was like to play on the Lakers and to be a young player growing on the Lakers?

1:50.5

And I think that his comments are really informative on how developing with the Lakers

1:55.2

is a pretty different experience than it is almost anywhere else in the league.

1:59.2

Well, I would say, too, developing on a team with LeBron James.

2:02.5

Right.

2:02.8

That only amplifies it.
