Hello everybody, welcome to three-point perspective. The podcast is about illustration, how to do it, how to make a living at it, and how to make an impact in the world with your art. I'm Jake Parker. I'm Lee White. And I'm Will Terry, and all three of us are professional illustrators. We've all worked for all the major publishers in the business. Together we published somewhere around 75 children's books, and we've all taught illustration at university

0:21.7

art programs that's right and each week we come at you guys with different listener questions

0:26.3

about illustration or fantastic illustrator interviews sometimes we agree sometimes we argue

1:03.6

So this is our year-in-review episode, but before we dig into that, Lee, you were going to go down a path there.

1:12.5

We were talking about the future of illustration or the future of posting online. Where were you going with that?

1:18.4

Oh, no, we were talking about, you know, with your interview, the biggest thing that happened this year is AI and sort of how we've watched it unfold, how we've watched it gain in its

1:24.4

ability, and how we've watched it kind of influx into the market.

1:29.7

And just today, this is just a cautionary tale.

1:33.3

We get an email from somebody that says, hey, I was looking at a rep site and somebody who is

1:41.2

agented and says, I think this person is using AI and they're posting

1:47.5

it on the reps portfolio. So within the portfolio that's on the agency site, there's AI work.

1:53.0

So we all kind of looked at it, went on and agree that it's definitely AI. There's no chance that

1:59.7

it's not. And this is an agented professional artist who's running the risk of like ruining their career and their reputation.

2:07.9

And so I know the agent, me and Will, were both repped by this agency before.

2:13.8

And so I reached out to them and I said, hey, there's this undercurrent of talk about this artist.

2:20.2

And I think they're posting AI stuff on your site and it's going to come back on you.

2:24.1

Meanwhile, this artist has no idea this stuff is happening, this undercurrent of talk.

2:29.5

And so that's my cautionary tale for you guys is that, oh, maybe you're using AI and you think nobody's noticing, but they do.
