I think for the next few weeks and months, there's going to be this giant shadow over New York City called the New York Knicks.

So even as the Yankees lost two out of three to their Cincinnati Reds and went over their last 22 with runners in scoring position,

and even after Anthony Volpe gets picked off, and even after Jason Dominguez can't catch a fly ball on right field,

and even after what is fair to say was a disappointing weekend at Yankee Stadium,

I do believe Tiki Barber, the New York Nick should be a reminder.

A reminder that while it's okay to care about the regular season,

and it's okay to be opinionated about what happened over the weekend,

none of this actually matters until October. And it took Nick

fans a while to realize that. Don't you think that's a little different for baseball than it is

for basketball? Basketball, in particular, because it's so star-driven. If you have a star who is

dominating regular season or not, but when he gets in the postseason, he's fantastic, then you have a chance.

That's five guys. It's different. Baseball is such a team, a team, complete team game that if you

have pieces that aren't working, like with the Mets, with the pitching, forget the match,

with the Yankees, with their hitting in certain situations.

Yeah, I'm just talking in general.

I'm not talking specifically about any team.

You're going to fall short.

Like, ultimately, basketball depends on a star.

Baseball depends on a team being able to put it together collectively.

So it's a little bit different.

The sport is different, but I think these comparisons right now are not different. Like the New York Yankees, even the most negative fan, who is all pissy about what happened over the weekend against the Reds, even the most negative fan will say, at the bare minimum, the New York Yankees are going to make the postseason, which they are. No, you're absolutely right about that.

And as I continue to talk about this with you, you're going to hear the similarities. Like, for example, well, the American League sucks. We heard that about the Eastern Conference all year long. It was a point I made a lot that, hey, it's not just about you. It's not just about looking at yourself in the mirror. It's also looking at the competition. The American League is not very good.
