Friends, welcome back to the Ransom Tart podcast. You are joining us in episode 4 of a series that we are doing on the world, not the world in terms of like, hey, what's going on in

international politics or not the world in terms of hey here's what's happening and

you know kind of evangelism around the world but passages that have long sort of

of both troubled us and sort of perplexed us. What is this thing that the

scriptures call the world and why does even Jesus himself make such a big deal about it?

I was reading in John 15 this morning.

Jesus said, if the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If own. As it is, you don't belong to the world.

It would love you as its own.

As it is, you don't belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

That's why the world hates you.

It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what?

What is this thing that Jesus is referring to that John and James have such strong things to say about?

And that began a series of conversations, so if you haven't caught the rest of those, you might want to go back and grab them.

This is episode four, or you can certainly jump in with us today, and I'm sure benefit from some of the questions we're asking and wondering about. But again that power of some of these

statements in scripture, James 4, he says, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God.

Therefore, everyone, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

It's like, whoa, them's fighting words, like that's pretty strong stuff.
