The book of Proverbs is replete in reminders that there's power in our tongue in the words that we say.

So what kind of words are you saying to your spouse?

I'm John Fuller, along with Greg and Aaron Smalley, who lead the marriage team here at the ministry.

And Aaron, power of words, you're a marriage counselor. You often see, I'm sure, couples who, if they just

said things differently, it'd be a lot better. Kindness has such an impact on a marriage,

on any relationship, really, but I can honestly say that my husband, Greg, has been such a voice

of encouragement in my life. I always say I wouldn't

be the person I am today if it wasn't for him constantly rooting me on and encouraging me,

specifically in this season with my doctorate. I would never have said yes if he hadn't been

standing there saying, you can do this.

And just the voice of encouragement, because actually to encourage means to make courageous.

And that's exactly what I needed to take on this doctoral program.

And here I am.

I'm almost done.

And he gets half of the degree, honestly.

I got half of his. Now he's going to get half of mine. Greg has been a champion. And I can see him just feel really proud of me. Yeah. Yeah. I'm so proud. Yeah. She's almost there. Well, everybody needs someone like a Greg in your life. And we can't. Yeah, he's not for sale or rent everybody everybody needs a Greg but they can't have mine yeah for a price though I will record any encouragement

I mean, we call it pushing your buttons or, you know, and that's at Hope Restored, which is our marriage intensive.

That's a lot of what the counseling is, is how to reorient couples on how to communicate with each other to be more effective and get a better outcome, rather than just pushing a button and going, wow, I'm so, you know, it's such a deception.
