I actually should have done this about 15 minutes earlier,

but I was indisposed. So much happening here at the Stand of Reason office. But I have noticed something as I have been reading through the book of Acts.

I actually noticed it a long time ago.

I think last time, maybe three or four years ago when I was reading through Acts,

and I mentioned it to Amy, and she said I noticed the same thing.

And so we kind of compared notes a little bit and then moving on. Here I am now going through the Book of Acts again. And I'm seeing the same thing,

jumping out time and time again. So what I was looking for now is all the places where this

happened and I was going to cite

the verses, and now I can only find one verse that's handy as I'm looking here where I see

this particular pattern. And I'm not sure if this pattern has any theological significance, really, but it might clear up some,

oh, here's another reference to it. It might clear up some misunderstanding that some of you

have about the way the word, the word of God, or I should say the phrase, is used in the book of

Acts.

The temptation, of course, is to read the phrase, the word of God, and then think they're

talking about the word, like the Bible, the Scripture.

The difficulty is that in the Book of Acts there was no New Testament.

I mean, through that whole time, there was no corpus of Scripture bound together known as the New Testament Word of God.

Now, of course, the letters, as they were being written in the 50s, the late 40s, the 50s, and the early 60s,

the New Testament documents were being circulated here and there, as people had opportunity,

to read them.
